  • April 26, 2008: ATA Certification Exam Sitting. University of  Washington, Seattle. Pre-registration and prequalification is required. Information at  http://www.atanet.org/certification/index.php.

  • May 3, 2008: The Written Exam, for both Certified and Registered court interpreter candidates, will be held at Bellevue Community College in Western Washington and at Yakima Valley Community College in Eastern Washington. Click here for more information.

  • May 29-June 1, 2008: FIT Forum on "Interpreting and Translating at Court and for Public Authorities" is being held in Tampere, Finland. For more information, click here.
  • May 31: The English Cicero Knew, a six-hour workshop on Latin vocabulary used in law, presented by Keo Capestany, in Ellensburg. Six AOC credits approved. For more information, click here.

  • June 21: WITS Annual Meeting. Details to be announced.

  • July 14 - August 1: Agnes Haury Institute for Interpretation,  Tucson, Arizona. For more information, www.nci.arizona.edu.

  • July 26: WITS/NOTIS Picnic, Seward Park.
  • July to December 2008: TIP-Lab 18th Distance Spanish Translation/Revision Workshop. Registration is now open for English into Spanish translators and interpreters. Excellent command of both Spanish and English is required. Qualified applicants are accepted on a first-come-first-served basis.   • September 4—October 4, 2008: DAWN presents 50 hours of intensive training on domestic violence advocacy, presented entirely in Spanish. 50 AOC credit approved for certified interpreters.  Click here for more information.

  • September 6 & 7, 2008: The Oral Exam, for candidates for Washington State Court Interpreter Certification, only for those who have passed the written exam, at Bellevue Community College. Click here for more information. 

  • October 4: Joint WITS/NOTIS celebration of International Translation Day. Details to be announced.
